1. Who we are
ElimuDesk ("we", "us") provides downloadable teaching and learning resources for teachers and learners in Kenya. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website. You can reach us at [email protected].
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the service:
- Contact details you give us: name, email address and phone number (for example when you pay, send a message or make a request).
- Order information: items purchased, amount, date, payment method and the M-Pesa or PayPal reference. We never see or store your M-Pesa PIN or card details.
- Usage information: pages viewed, resources downloaded, search terms and basic device and browser data.
- Content you send us: messages, resource requests and contributor applications.
3. How we use your information
- To process payments, unlock downloads and send receipts.
- To answer your messages and provide support.
- To improve the site, for example by showing popular resources and fixing errors.
- To prevent fraud and abuse and to meet legal obligations.
- To send our newsletter, only if you subscribe. You can unsubscribe at any time.
5. Cookies and local storage
We use browser storage to remember your cart, downloads, recently viewed items and preferences on your device. We may use analytics tools to understand usage in aggregate. You can clear this data from your browser settings at any time; some features may then stop working.
6. How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as needed for accounting and legal purposes. Other data is kept only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, then deleted or anonymised.
7. Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019, you may ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where we rely on it. Email [email protected] and we will respond within the legal timeframe. You may also complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) in Kenya.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No online service is completely secure, so please keep your login details private and never share your M-Pesa PIN.
9. Children and learners
Our services are intended for teachers, parents and guardians. Learners under 18 should use ElimuDesk with the guidance of a parent, guardian or teacher. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate consent.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
