Designing practice worksheets that learners actually finish

A worksheet is not a test on paper. It is practice, so it should feel doable.

  • Start with two easy questions so everyone gets an early win.
  • Increase difficulty gradually and mark the challenge questions with a star.
  • Keep instructions to one short line.
  • Leave enough space for working out.
  • Add one real-life question, such as shopping at the market or measuring a field.
  • End with a reflection line: "One thing I found hard today was..."

Print double-sided to save paper, and keep a clean copy with answers for quick marking.
